Local Area

A WEALTH OF THINGS TO SEE AND DO
We are superbly centrally placed for exploring the scenic beauties and the great outdoors of Cairngorm National Park and beyond. Our central position opens up a host of things to do and see, and makes our whole destination a 'must visit' to appreciate much of the very best of the Highlands of Scotland.

In this section, we'll set the scene for some of the highlights from the wealth of riches which await you.

We can work with local activity providers to 'bolt on' your choice, or choices - from an almost endless variety of wonderful local outdoor activities, from relaxing to challenging - on foot, on horseback, on wheels and on water.

Fairwinds offers superb Scotland outdoor activity breaks for the adventureous.

MORE LEISURELY
For those looking for a leisurely 'time snack or relaxing holiday, the area is tailor made for long, leisurely, easy walks and great pony trekking - and is an art lover's and photographer's paradise. After all, for many a leisure break or a holiday in the Scottish highlands is a relaxing experience, not an endurance test.

See, smell, taste and feel the magic of this beautiful unspoilt area. Picnic by lochside. We supply excellent picnic and packed lunches. Enjoy a leisurely game of golf, unhurried and not hassled by the queues and 5 hour rounds often characteristic of many golf courses these days. Clear light, pure air, and a timeless, almost therapeutic atmosphere of peace tranquility reign here.

Meet our friendly ducks in our hotel grounds. Or simply laze around in the hotel's lounge for a while, meeting new friends, renewing "auld acquaintances", or enjoying a good book, and some home baking.

ADVENTURE BREAKS IN THE HIGHLANDS
For the more adventurous in spirit, great challenges and more hard knuckle activities await you all around - from exciting watersports and canoeing - to challenging hikes and climbs. Enjoy great 4 x 4 driving, clay pigeon shooting or Mini Highland Games at Rothiemurchus Estate.

For the whitewater kayaker there is some of the finest water in Scotland - rivers such as the Findhorn, and numerous tributaries of the Spey, offer sections of whitewater up to Grade 5, Badenoch and Strathspey can provide an excellent base from which to explore further afield to rivers such as the Roy, Spean, Coe, Blackwater and many more.

Fairwinds offers superb Scotland activity breaks for the adventureous.
